The North Campus Open Space (NCOS) Restoration Project restores the upper arms of Devereux Slough with funding from partner agencies. Restoration of the estuary supports a diversity of birds, fish, and wildlife; absorbs flood waters; and is adaptive to sea level rise. Over 2.5 miles of trails provide scenic views and connectivity to the California Coastal Trail. The Marsh and Mesa Trails are open. Restoration and Research Opportunities are provided by UC Santa Barbara’s Cheadle Center for Biodiversity & Ecological Restoration (Cheadle Center).
